WSC men golfers take second at Briar Cliff Invite

The Wayne State College men's golf team shot a season-best round of 303 to finish second out of 14 teams Monday at the Briar Cliff Invitational played in Sioux City at Green Valley Golf Course.  Morningside fired a team score of 299 to edge the Wildcats by four shots for the team title with host Briar Cliff in third place at 304.  The Wayne State Gold Team (junior varsity) was 13th with a 331.

Freshmen Adam Fields (Sioux City Heelan) and Scott Barnes (Papillion-LaVista) each fired rounds of 74 to lead Wayne State.  Tyler DeJong followed with a 77, Jake Hirz shot 78 and Michael Phillips came in with a 79.

For the Wayne State Gold Team, Keith Eriksen shot a 79, Drew Shively 83, Brent Hoesing 84 with Lee Olson and Josh Reinders each coming in with 85.

The next scheduled action for Wayne State will be Tuesday, September 18 when the Wildcats participate in the Morningside Invitational at Sioux City, Iowa.
