Wayne State College junior defensive end Richard Daniel was named D2Football.com Defensive Player of the Week Wednesday morning following his performance in last Saturday’s 24-17 overtime win over then ranked #13 Nebraska-Kearney. It’s the second player of the week honor for Daniel this week after being named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The Wayne State College athletic department will be holding Armed Services Appreciation Day on Saturday, September 11th in conjunction with the Wildcats’ home football game vs. Minnesota, Crookston. The game, scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne, is a perfect opportunity to recognize current and past military personnel for their service to our country.

Following Saturday night’s 24-17 overtime win at 13th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney, the Wayne State College football team is ranked 25th in the latest AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released Monday afternoon. The Wildcats received a total of 72 points in voting by NCAA Division II coaches across the country.

Richard Daniel of Wayne State College was selected today as the Northern Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his play in Saturday night’s 24-17 overtime win at 13th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney. It’s the first time in his career that the 6-1, 220 pound junior defensive end from Papillion-LaVista High School has been named NSIC Player of the Week.
