Wayne State women take third at home meet

Kelsee Katsampes places fifth with 86
The Wayne State College women's golf team shot a 360 to place third at the WSC Fall Classic played Friday in chilly conditions at the Wayne Country Club. Dakota Wesleyan won the team title with a 338, 20 shots ahead of second place Winona State, with Wayne State in third at 360. Other team scores included Iowa Western Community College at 390 and Northwestern College JV at 391.
Sophomore Kelsee Katsampes (Gretna) posted the top round for the Wildcats, placing fourth overall with an 86. Plainview freshman Heather McCabe also medaled for the Wildcats, taking sixth with an 87. Other WSC scores were Hayley Pile with 92, Ali Fuchtman shot 95 and Kasey Hansen came in at 99. Playing as an individual, Wayne State's Shana Heggemeyer posted a 98.
Dakota Wesleyan's Cassidy Potter was medalist for the meet with a 79, followed by Winona State's Megan Placko in second at 81 and Kelli Baseley of Dakota Wesleyan third with a 85.
The next meet for Wayne State will be Sunday and Monday when the Wildcats travel to Lake Elmo, Minnesota for the NCAA North Regional.
