Nate Preston of Wayne State College was recognized Tuesday with Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week following his performance at the UNK Pre-Regional Meet on Saturday in Kearney, Nebraska. The senior from Omaha Benson HS placed third in the meet out of 80 runners with a time of 25:38 over the hilly, 8,000-meter course where the NCAA Regional Championships will be held on November 8th. It was Preston's best time of the season on a 8,000-meter course.
Preston led WSC to a third place finish in the men's division, trailing only Colorado School of Mines (ranked 6th in NCAA Division II) and Augustana College, who is ranked fifth in the Central Region. Wayne State is off this week and will prepare for the Northern Sun Conference Championships in Aberdeen, South Dakota on Saturday, October 25th.
