Dakota State Invitational Men's Cross Country Results
Wayne State placed five runners in the top 11 and cruised to the team title Saturday at the Dakota State Invitational Men's Cross Country Meet held at the Madison Country Club in Madison, South Dakota. The Wildcats scored 24 points with the University of Sioux Falls a distant second with 75 points in the 11-team field. Dordt College (102), South Dakota School of Mines (133) and Northwestern College (142) rounded out the top five teams.
Senior Nate Preston led a balanced team effort for the Wildcats, placing third overall out of 111 runners with a time of 25:44 over the 8,000 meter course. Matt Schneider was seventh in 26:28, Cheto Cerda eighth at 26:35 and York Thomas ninth with a time of 26:37. Wayne State's fifth runner, John Kern, came in 11th overall in a time of 26:44.
Other WSC runners included Joe Chebul (21st -27:38), Matt Seiler (32nd-28:11), Jason Schaaf (34th-28:13), Michael Schinstock (47th-29:09), Nathaniel Bergen (67th-30:10) and Jimmie Doherty (88th-31:42).
Wayne State will be off next week and then travel to Kearney, Nebraska for the UNK Pre-Regional Meet on Saturday, October 11.
