Molacek wins two events for WSC men at Preseason Open

WSC Preseason Open Men's Results

                The Wayne State College indoor track and field teams got an early start to the 2010 season by hosting the WSC Preseason Open Saturday at the WSC Recreation Center.  Joining Wayne State College at the meet were teams from Nebraska-Omaha (women), Dakota State, Dordt College, Mount Marty College and the University of Sioux Falls

                Junior sprinter Drew Molacek was a double-winner for the Wayne State men to highlight four first place finishes for the Wildcats.  The Stanton, Nebraska graduate won the 55 meter dash in 6.47 seconds and was first in the 200 meter dash at 22.77.  Senior thrower Jacob Mathieson picked up a win in the 35-pound weight throw at 54' 1 ¾” and Alex Timperly scored a win in the triple jump with a mark of 46' 8 ¾”.  Sophomore Cody Diehl set a new WSC indoor school record in the heptathlon, finishing second with 4,546 points.  The previous school record was 4,337 points and set by Jon Dickey in the 2008 indoor season. 
                Wayne State resumes the indoor track and field season on Friday and Saturday, January 15 and 16 at the University of Nebraska Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln.
