WSC Preseason Open Women's Results

                The Wayne State College
indoor track and field teams got an early start to the 2010 season by hosting the WSC Preseason Open Saturday at the WSC Recreation Center.  Joining Wayne State College at the meet were teams from Nebraska-Omaha (women), Dakota State, Dordt College, Mount Marty College and the University of Sioux Falls.

                 Senior distance runner Megan Zavorka was a double winner to highlight six first place finishes for the Wildcat women’s team.  Zavorka won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:27.42 and also won the one mile run at 5:25.92.  Senior sprinter Christina King won the 600 meter run (1:38.12) and was third in the 55 meter dash in 7.44 seconds.  Junior Paige Pollard was a winner in the pentathlon with 3,241 points and was third in the 55 meter hurdles in a time of 8.94 seconds. 
                Junior Casey Buskirk won the 20-pound weight throw with a solid mark of 57’ ¼” and was second in the shot put with a top throw of 42’ 1 ½”.  Sophomore Brianne Hofstetter scored the final first place finish for the Wildcats by winning the triple jump with a leap of 35’ 7 ¾”.  
                  Wayne State resumes the indoor track and field season on Friday and Saturday, January 15 and 16 at the University of Nebraska Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln.

One Mile Run: Megan Zavorka, 1st – 5:25.92; Sarah Thomsen, 2nd - 5:31.24; Meghan Jacob, 4th – 5:39.91

55 Meter Hurdles: Paige Pollard, 3rd – 8.94

4 x 400 Meter Relay: 2nd – 4:12.60 (Christina King, Paige Pollard, Melissa McIntosh, Brianne Hofstetter)

Long Jump: Megan Dias, 5th – 16’ 8 1/2”

Triple Jump: Brianne Hofstetter, 1st – 35’ 7 ¾”; Megan Dias, 2nd – 35’ 1”

Shot Put: Casey Buskirk, 2nd – 42’ 1 ½”; Lachel Milander, 5th – 39’ 7 ¾”

Weight Throw: Casey Buskirk, 1st – 57’ ¼ ”; Lachel Milander, 2nd – 45’ 1”; Emily Wells, 3rd – 43’ 5”; Jodi Nordquist, 4th – 41’ 10 ¾”

Indoor Pentathlon: Paige Pollard, 1st -3,241 points
