2009 Daktronics All-American Football Team Release

Wayne State College's Ryan Reeves was named to the 2009 Daktronics, Inc. Division II All-America Football Team announced today, earning Second Team All-American honors.  It's the second straight season that WSC has had a Daktronics All-American in football following the selection of defensive end Troy Pribnow, a Second Team Daktronics All-American last season.

This is the 17th year the Daktronics All-America Team has been selected by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) from NCAA Division II football playing members.  It's the second straight day that a Wayne State football player has received All-American honors, joining junior wide receiver Frederick Bruno who was named to the AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) Division II Coaches All-American Team on Monday.

Reeves, a 6-3, 245 pound senior linebacker from Wahoo, Nebraska (Wahoo Neumann HS), led Wayne State and the Northern Sun Conference in tackles for the second straight season, recording 124 tackles with four interceptions and seven pass breakups this season.  He had 10 or more tackles in 10 of the 11 games played for the Wildcats.  Reeves ranks tied for eighth in NCAA Division II with 11.27 tackles per game.  He is a two-time selection to the Daktronics Super Region #3 First Team and is a two-time All-NSIC South Division selection at linebacker.

Wayne State College finished the 2009 season with an 8-3 overall record, going 7-3 in the NSIC to finish in a tie for third place.
