Final men's results from NSIC Spring Fling
The Wayne State College men's golf team finished in seventh place out of nine teams at the Northern Sun Conference Spring Fling Tournament that was played Sunday and Monday in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Club. The tournament was originally scheduled to be played in St. Joseph, Missouri but was moved to Lincoln due to bad weather and final results were not available until Wednesday morning.
Wayne State shot rounds of 308 and 312 to finish with a two-day total of 620 in the nine team meet that featured seven teams from the NSIC and two from the MIAA. St. Cloud State won the tournament with a 600 (298-302), two shots better than runner up Truman State (301-301) at 602.
Sophomore Adam Fields posted the top score for the Wildcats, placing 10th overall out of 61 players with a score of 150 after shooting rounds of 76 and 74. Next was Blake Thompson, who tied for 20th with scores of 76 and 78 for a 154. Tyler Thompson followed at 157 (77-80) to finish in a tie for 23rd, Jake Hirz tied for 33rd with back-to-back 80's for 160 and Tyler DeJong shot 79-82 for a 161 to come in a tie for 33rd.
Wayne State College will be in action again on Sunday and Monday, April 5 and 6 at the Upper Iowa Invite held in Iowa City, Iowa.
