Upper Iowa Invitational Men's Golf Results
The Wayne State College men's golf team placed eighth out of 10 teams over the weekend at the Upper Iowa Invitational played in Iowa City, Iowa. The teams played 27 holes on Saturday and the final nine holes on Sunday due to bad weather in the area. The Wildcats shot rounds of 330 and 324 for a two-day score of 654. Bemidji State won a tight team race with a 621 (305-316), two shots better than Southwest Baptist (303-320=623) with Upper Iowa in third at 626 (305-321).
Senior Blake Thompson posted the top score for Wayne State finishing in a tie for 18th place overall with a 159 after shooting rounds of 80 and 79. Sophomore Adam Fields shot 84 and 77 for a 161 to finish in a tie for 28th. Other WSC scores included Jake Hirz, tied for 46th, with a 166 (83-83); Tyler DeJong, tied for 54th at 170 (83-87) and freshman Tyler Thompson finished in a tie for 62nd with a 174 after shooting 89 and 85.
Wayne State is scheduled to close out the spring season on Friday and Saturday when the Wildcats compete in the final round of the Northern Sun Conference Championships in Lake City, Minnesota.
