St. Cloud State Husky Classic Final Results
The Wayne State College men's golf team placed fourth out of 15 teams Sunday and Monday at the St. Cloud State Husky Classic played at the St. Cloud Country Club in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The Wildcats posted team scores of 309 Sunday and 301 Monday to finish with a 36-hole total of 610. Minnesota State won the team title with a 589 (296-293) with host St. Cloud State in second at 598 (298-300) and Bemidji State in third at 600 (294-306).
Individually for Wayne State, juniors Tyler DeJong and Jake Hirz tied for third overall with each player shooting 36-hole scores of 147. DeJong shot 74-73 while Hirz came in with 73-74 as each player finished just two shots behind individual medalist Evan Peters of St. Cloud State, who shot 72-73 for a 145, one-over par over 36 holes.
Other WSC finishers included Tyler Thompson tied for 31st overall with a 155 (81-74), Adam Fields was tied for 58th at 161 (81-80) and Brett Shively came in with a 165 (85-80) to finish in a tie for 71st overall.
The next meet for Wayne State College will be Sunday and Monday, September 27-28 when the Wildcats compete in the NSIC/RMAC Regional at Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg, Nebraska.
