Final men's results - Minnesota State Open 1/30/10
Sophomore Cody Diehl set a new school record and achieved a provisional national qualifying mark in the heptathlon to highlight the Wayne State College men's track and field team at the Minnesota State Open Indoor Meet held Friday and Saturday in Mankato, Minnesota.
Diehl, a graduate of Grand Island Northwest High School, scored 4,723 points to eclipse his own school record of 4,546 points in the heptathlon set last month at the WSC Preseason Open in Wayne (December 12th).
Other top finishers for the Wildcat men included York Thomas placing second in the 5,000 meter run (15:42.65), Andy Jansen was second in the 600 meter run (1:22.89), Jeff Mills was fourth in the pole vault (14' 8”), Cheto Cerda placed fourth in the one mile run (4:26.89) and Matt Seiler took fourth in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:06.22.
Wayne State will compete next weekend at the John Dalton Open at the University of South Dakota on Saturday at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion.
