Hefner reaches 1,500 career kills in Wildcat sweep at Winona State

            Senior middle hitter Jennifer Hefner recorded a match-high 14 kills while becoming the sixth player in Wayne State volleyball history to reach 1,500 career kills as the NCAA Division II 4th-ranked Wildcats rolled in a 3-0 Northern Sun Conference volleyball sweep at Winona State Friday evening.  Scores of the match were 25-20, 25-19 and 25-17.  WSC is now 24-3 overall and 15-3 in the NSIC while Winona State has records of 11-14 overall and 6-11 in the NSIC.

            Hefner, a graduate of Central City High School, now has 1,504 career kills following her 14 kills in Friday night's win at Winona State.  She had just two errors in 30 total attacks to post a .400 hitting percentage in the match.  Hefner also recorded four blocks in the win for the Wildcats.  Tali Fredrickson and Shelby Schultz added seven kills each for the Wildcats, who outhit Winona State .218-.092 in the match.  Junior libero Leigh Connot was one of four Wildcats to notch double digits in digs with a match-high 18 followed by Fredrickson with 14.  McKenna Reagan had 13 digs with Nicole Brungardt adding 12.  Senior setter Diedra Artz was credited with 38 set assists.

             Wayne State will on be on the road again Saturday afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. contest at Upper Iowa.
