Former Wayne State College cross country/track and field standout
Matt Schneider repeated as champion in the 3,000 meter steeplechase last weekend (July 9-10) at the USATF Club National Championships in San Francisco, California.
Schneider, a 2009 NCAA Division II All-American for WSC in the steeplechase, won the event with a time of 9:23.96, making him a two-time national champion after winning the event last year in New York City. The Nebraska City native also ran the mile leg on the Team Nebraska Brooks distance medley relay that set a new meet record with a time of 10:14.46 with Schneider's split time for the mile 4:16. He also earned a seventh place finish on Friday, July 9 in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:56.38, which was a personal best time in the event.
