Daniel collects NSIC Defensive Player of the Week honors

            Richard Daniel of Wayne State College was selected today as the Northern Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his play in Saturday night's 24-17 overtime win at 13th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney.  It's the first time in his career that the 6-1, 220 pound junior defensive end from Papillion-LaVista High School has been named NSIC Player of the Week. 

            Daniel had seven tackles, two sacks for minus 10 yards and 3.5 tackles for loss for 17 yards to help the Wildcat defense shut down the Lopers Saturday night in Kearney.  He also had a forced fumble, fumble recovery and one quarterback hurry to help the Wildcats beat #13 Nebraska-Kearney 24-17 in overtime. 

            Wayne State College, ranked 25th in the latest AFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released Monday afternoon, is off this weekend and will be at home on Saturday, September 11 to open Northern Sun Conference play against Minnesota, Crookston in a 1:00 p.m. contest at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne.
