#17 Wildcats finish 4-0 at Rockhurst Volleyball Classic with impressive sweep of host Hawks

            The 17th-ranked Wayne State College volleyball team finished 4-0 at the Rockhurst Volleyball Classic in Kansas City, Missouri  Saturday afternoon with an impressive sweep of the host Hawks 25-15, 25-16 and 25-13.  The Wildcats move to 4-0 on the season while Rockhurst suffers its first loss and is now 2-1.

            Senior middle hitter Jennifer Hefner had a big game for the Wildcats, accounting for a match leading 15 kills while hitting .538 in the win with just one error on 26 total attacks.  The Central City graduate capped a stellar day for the Wildcats, hitting .481 with 28 kills and just three errors in 52 attacks after registering 13 kills and just two errors in 26 attacks against Tiffin (Ohio) earlier in the day.  Hefner also had three ace serves and five blocks in the win.  Junior Mindy Moody added nine kills for the Wildcats in the win as WSC hit .297 for the match, including a sizzling .469 in the final set to complete the sweep. 

            Senior setter Diedra Artz handed out 36 set assists while freshman McKenna Reagan (Elkhorn) paced the Wildcats on defense with 17 digs followed by Tali Fredrickson with 12. 

            Wayne State will be in action again next weekend traveling to Denver, Colorado for the Division II Premier Challenge.  The Wildcats meet 11th-ranked Saint Leo (Fla.) at 12:00 p.m. and Regis (Colo.) at 3:30 p.m. Friday with two more matches scheduled for Saturday.
