Junior middle hitter Mindy Moody recorded a match-high 16 kills to power the 17th-ranked Wayne State College volleyball team in a sweep over Tiffin (Ohio) at the Rockhurst Volleyball Classic in Kansas City, Missouri Saturday afternoon. Scores of the match were 25-14, 27-25 and 25-20. WSC is now 3-0 on the season while Tiffin slips to 2-2 with the loss.
Moody, a graduate of Sioux City Heelan High School, hit .467 in the match with 16 kills and just two errors in 30 total attacks. Her 16 kills was one shy of a career high. Senior middle hitter Jennifer Hefner was just as strong as Moody, notching 13 kills and a .423 hitting percentage with just two errors in 26 total attacks.
Senior setter Diedra Artz had a double-double with 38 set assists and 13 digs to go with three ace serves. Junior libero Leigh Connot also had 13 digs for the Wildcats, who outhit Tiffin in the match .298-.233.
Wayne State will play host Rockhurst University at 3:00 p.m. Saturday to close out play at the Rockhurst Volleyball Classic in Kansas City, Missouri.
