NSIC Cross Country Weekly Release 9-7-10
Ky'Lee Engelken of Wayne State College was selected Tuesday afternoon as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week following her performance over the weekend at the Concordia Open in Seward. It's the first time in her career that Engelken has been named NSIC Athlete of the Week in cross country.
Engelken, a sophomore from Pawnee City, Nebraska, finished sixth overall out of 66 runners at last Saturday's season-opening Concordia Open in Seward with a time of 20:05 on the very challenging 5,000 meter course. The event featured a tough field that included NAIA nationally ranked teams from Concordia University and Morningside College. Engelken's sixth place finish helped the Wildcats take third place overall.
Wayne State is next scheduled to compete in the Woody Greeno Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln on Saturday, September 18th.
