Wildcat Open Women's Indoor Track and Field Final Results

                Norfolk Catholic freshman Nicole Brungardt won three events and set a new school record in the 60 meter dash to highlight the Wayne State College women's indoor track and field team's performance at the Wildcat Open Indoor Track and Field Meet Saturday at the WSC Recreation Center.  Other teams competing in the meet included Briar Cliff, Buena Vista, Dakota State, Morningside College, Mount Marty and South Dakota School of Mines.  

                Brungardt's winning time of 7.80 seconds in the 60 meter dash topped the previous school mark of 7.88 seconds held by Kylie Herian in the 2008 season.  Brungardt also won the 200 meter dash in 27.18 seconds and took first in the long jump at 18' ½”. 

                Other winners for WSC included Lexi Guhl in the 60 meter hurdles (9.59), Erin Klein in the 400 meter dash (1:01.42), Christina King in the 600 meter run (1:40.40), Skyler Lippman in the 800 meter run (2:32.81), Brianne Hofstetter in the triple jump (36' 2 ¾”) and Carly Fehringer in the shot put (43' 2 ¼”).  The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Klein, Hofstetter, King and Pollard also took first with a time of 4:16.01.

                The Wayne State men had a pair of double winners to highlight the day.  Senior John Kern was first in the 1,000 meter run (2:37.48) and also won the one mile run in a time of 4:23.18.  The other double winner was junior sprinter Andrew Jansen, taking first in the 200 meter dash (23.39) and first in the 600 meter run (1:23.26). 

                Other winners for WSC were Michael King in the 60 meter dash (7.15), Will Hanson in the 60 meter hurdles (8.40), Garrett Zoucha in the 400 meter dash (53.40), David Poots in the 800 meter run (2:04.38), Alex Timperley in the triple jump (45' 4 ½”) and Ross Bunchek in the weight throw (63' 3/4”). 

                Wayne State will be in action again next weekend traveling to Mankato, Minnesota for the Minnesota State Open Friday night and Saturday.
