Nebraska Wesleyan Quad Meet Results

                Sophomore Carly Fehringer set a new school record in the weight throw to highlight the Wayne State College Indoor Track and Field team Friday and Saturday at a pair of meets in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Several athletes competed in the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite at the Devaney Sports Center while the remainder of the team participated Saturday in the Nebraska Wesleyan Quad Meet along with host Nebraska Wesleyan, Hastings College and Concordia University.

                Fehringer, a sophomore from Wayne, achieved a new school record and NCAA provisional mark of 58' 1” in the weight throw Friday night in the finals of the Sevigne Husker Invite to finish ninth overall.  She broke the old school record of 57' 11 ¼” set by Casey Buskirk on February 26, 2010.  Other top marks at the Sevigne Husker Invite included Paige Pollard taking third in the 800 meter run at 2:13.95, an NCAA provisional mark,  while Nicole Brungardt ran a season-best time of 7.79 seconds in the 60 meter dash. 

                At Saturday's Nebraska Wesleyan Quad Meet, Brungardt earned first place finishes in the 55 meter dash (7.32) and the long jump (17' 4”), Brianne Hofstetter won the triple jump (36' 4 ¾”), Stephanie Baumgart was first in the 200 meter dash (27.82) and Kinsey Clark crossed the line first in the 800 meter run (2:38.28).

                Wayne State will compete next Saturday at the Concordia Invitational in Seward, Nebraska.
