Ky’Lee Engelken of Wayne State College was selected Tuesday afternoon as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week following her performance over the weekend at the Concordia Open in Seward. Sophomore Ky’Lee Engelken and senior Meghan Schneider each posted top 10 finishes to lead the Wayne State College women’s cross country team to a third place finish Saturday morning at the Concordia Open in Seward, Nebraska. The Wayne State College women’s cross country team placed ninth out of 22 teams at the 2009 NCAA Division II Central Regional Cross Country Championships hosted by Wayne State College and run at the Wayne Country Club Saturday. The Wildcats finished with a team score of 265 to record the best-ever finish by a WSC women’s cross country team at regionals. The Wayne State College women’s cross country team earned a sixth place finish at the Northern Sun Conference Championships held in Bemidji, Minnesota Saturday at Greenwood Golf Course. The Wildcats scored 160 points to finish sixth in the 11-team field. Megan Zavorka and Ky'Lee Engelken earned top 10 finishes to help the Wayne State women's cross country team to a tie for second place at the NCAA Pre-Regional Cross Country Meet held in Wayne on Friday.
