Freshman third baseman Brittany Greenwood went 3 for 4 with five RBI's to help the 16th-ranked Wayne State College softball team blank Felician College of New Jersey 8-0 Tuesday afternoon at the National Training Center Spring Games in Clermont, Florida.  The Wildcats completed a sweep of Felician to improve to 8-2 overall while dropping Felician to 1-4 on the season.

WSC opened the scoring in the first inning, scoring one run on two hits and two Felician errors to take a 1-0 lead.  The 'Cats scored twice in the third to make the score 3-0 with Jennifer Radley's RBI double and a Brittany Greenwood run-scoring single the big hits in the inning.  WSC took a 7-0 lead in the fourth inning by scoring four runs, three of them coming home on Greenwood's bases-loaded clearing triple.  The 'Cats closed out the scoring in the sixth inning on Greenwood's RBI single that scored Blaire Kuhl to make the final score 8-0.

WSC had eight hits in the game to just one for Felician.  Greenwood's 3 for 4 day and five RBI's led all Wildcat batters.  Radley had the only other extra base hit, a double.  Hannah Engelkamp was 1 for 2 and scored three runs while Blaire Kuhl finished 1 for 3 and scored twice.

Amber Baird (2-1) was the winning pitcher, striking out seven batters in four innings of work without allowing a hit.  Brooke Vollmer pitched the final two innings, allowing just one hit while striking out one and walking one.

Wayne State will continue play at the National Training Center Spring Games in Florida on Wednesday with games against Bentley College of Massachusetts at 11:30 a.m. and West Liberty State of West Virginia at 1:30 p.m.

What makes you the person you are today? Everything I have been through, good or bad, in my life has taught me all that I know.  My mom and grandmother have taught me as well.
Coach Unger's comments: Kristen has been a very vocal leader for our squad.  She is a strong athlete and her work ethic is second to none.  Kristen is a very versatile player, but her main priorities will be to hold down first base or spark our offense as the designated player.

Coach Disch's comments: Travis is in his third year with our program.  He started his career at Wayne State as a freshman and redshirted.  Then he went to New Mexico Junior College for two years and returned to the Wildcats for his last two seasons.  He is a sure gloved first baseman that earned All-NSIC Gold Glove honors last spring.  Not only does he do well on the baseball field, he also has above a 3.0 grade point average in the classroom.  He will hit in the middle of our order and continue to lead by example.
