Final results from NSIC Men's Golf Championships
Round 3 scores from NSIC Men's Golf Championships
The Wayne State College men's golf team placed seventh out of 11 teams at the Northern Sun Conference Men's Golf Championships that concluded Saturday in Lake City, Minnesota. The Wildcats finished with 31 points in the format that saw teams play three different courses dating back to last fall. Wildcat sophomore Adam Fields earned NSIC All-Conference honors by placing fifth overall with a total of 277 points.
Minnesota State and Bemidji State tied for the team title with 58 points followed by St. Cloud State in third at 55 points. Upper Iowa was fourth with 48 points while Augustana and Concordia, St. Paul tied for fifth with 39 points. Following Wayne State (31 points) in the team standings were Winona State (28), Minnesota, Crookston (22), Northern State (10) and the University of Mary (4).
The individual NSIC men's champion was Mitch Mackedanz of Bemidji State with 300 points followed by Adam Winans of Upper Iowa in second at 292 points. Wayne State's Adam Fields, a sophomore from Sioux City Heelan HS, was fifth at 277 points. Other WSC finishers included Blake Thompson with 154 points, Jake Hirz was right behind with 151 points, Tyler DeJong had 134 points and Tyler Thompson ended with 91 points.
This concludes the 2008-09 men's golf season for Wayne State College.
