Wildcat Open Final Women's Results

Casey Buskirk won the shot put and weight throw and Megan Dias broke a long time school record and reached an NCAA provisional qualifying mark with a first place finish in the triple jump to highlight seven Wayne State first place finishes Saturday at the Wildcat Open Indoor Track and Field Meet held at the WSC Recreation Center.  Other teams competing in the meet were Iowa Western CC, Mount Marty, Nebraska-Omaha women, South Dakota School of Mines and University of Sioux Falls.

The Wildcat women's team had a total of seven first place finishes with one new school record.  Buskirk won the weight throw (56' 6") and the shot put (42' 11") while Dias took first in the triple jump with a new school record and NCAA provisiona qualifying mark of 37' 6 1/2", breaking the previous school mark of 37' 4" set by Deanna Gollobit in 1999.  Other winners included Christina King in the 600 meter run (1:39.43), Ky'Lee Engelken in the 1000 meter run (3:15.91), Megan Zavorka in the one mile run (5:16.77) and Savannah Wakeley in the high jump (5' 1 3/4").

Wayne State will be in action again on Friday, February 19th competing at the Nebraska Tuneup Open in Lincoln, Nebraska.
