WSC Spring Men's Golf Invite Day 1 Results
The Wayne State College men's golf team is sitting in third place after the first day of the 2010 Wayne State Spring Invitational played at the Wayne Country Club after posting a team score of 302 on Sunday. The Wildcats trail first place Nebraska-Kearney (292) and St. Cloud State (298) after the first 18 holes of the 36-hole tournament that will conclude on Monday in Wayne.
Following UNK, St. Cloud State and Wayne State in the team standings are Upper Iowa and Concordia-St. Paul tied for fourth at 303, Minnesota State sixth at 305, Northern State seventh at 316, Winona State in eighth at 317, Augustana ninth at 318 and Minnesota, Crookston 10th at 321.
Bellevue West junior Jake Hirz posted the top score for Wayne State on the opening day, shooting a one-over par 73 to be tied for third. Sioux City Heelan junior Adam Fields was right behind with a 74, tied for eighth place. Other WSC scores included Tyler Thompson with a 77, Tyler DeJong 78 and Scott Barnes at 83.
The final 18 holes of the Wayne State Spring Invitational will begin at 9:00 a.m. Monday morning.
