The Wayne State College women's golf opened the 2010 season on a very tough course at the inaugural Prairie Club Shootout played at the new Prairie Club Golf Course southwest of Valentine, Nebraska Monday and Tuesday, September 20-21. The Wildcats posted a 54-hole team score of 1,188. Dakota Wesleyan edged the University of Sioux Falls 1,090-1,096 for the team title.
Wayne State's top golfer was Battle Creek junior Paige Barry with rounds of 101, 94 and 89 for a 284 followed by Valentine junior Katie Isom at 291 after carding rounds of 98, 98 and 95. Other WSC finishers included Vermillion, South Dakota freshman Kristin Schwasinger at 304 (101-103-100) and Kaylee Faltys with a 309 after shooting scores of 109-101-99.
The next meet for Wayne State College will be Sunday at the Mustang Invitational in Marshall, Minnesota. The originally scheduled two-day tournament for Saturday and Sunday was shortened to a one-day, 36-hole tournament on Sunday due to heavy rains earlier in the week in southwest Minnesota.
