#3 seed Fort Lewis pulls away in second half for 69-58 win over Mary in Central Region Tournament opener

             Third-seeded Fort Lewis College outscored University of Mary 44-33 in the second half to record a 69-58 win over the University of Mary in the opening game of the NCAA Division II Central Regional Women's Basketball Tournament played at Rice Auditorium on the campus of Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.
            Fort Lewis built an early 18-7 lead midway through the first half, but the Marauders from Mary came back and tied the score at 25-25 at halftime.  The Skyhawks came out strong in the second half and took a 46-34 lead with 7:57 to play in the game.  Mary made one more run at Fort Lewis, pulling within four at 49-45 with 5:13 to play.  But the Skyhawks scored the next seven points to go back up by double digits and went on to the 69-58 win.
            Dana Schreibvogel led Fort Lewis in scoring with 16 points to go with nine rebounds.  Ashley Kuchar (13 points) and Katerina Garcia (12 points) also reached double figures for the Skyhawks. 
            Shaunna Knife paced the University of Mary with 16 points followed by Linda Murray and Ali Collins with 12 points each.
            Fort Lewis now moves to 26-4 on the season and will play in Saturday's semi-finals at 5:00 p.m. while Mary finishes the season with a record of 19-10.
