Day 7 blog from WSC women's basketball player Paige Ballinger on USA D-2 Tour in Brazil

8/7/2017 4:01:00 PM

In the continuing series of rotating blogs from Wayne State basketball players and coaches on the USA D-2 Women's Basketball Tour in Brazil, today's Day 7 blog is from basketball player Paige Ballinger and her experience.  Team USA completed a 4-0 trip to Brazil with a 78-44 win Sunday afternoon over Fluminense, marking the first time the USA team posted a perfect 4-0 record against Brazil.

Last game day!!

I woke up had some breakfast. My normal eggs and pineapple. The bus would then leave by 8:30 for our 10 o'clock game. It was a short 20 minute ride to our destination.

We arrived at a club somewhat similar to the second game we played. We walked down a long street and entered the club. We then toured the soccer field that they use for the junior team. We continued on to find the gym and we arrived after passing the pool and the high diving boards. As we passed we spotted some spider monkeys. They were very cute and tiny.

We arrived to the gym with twenty minutes to spare. We all got dressed and got our shoes and ankle braces on and we were ready to go. We started off kind of slow but we soon found our rhythm and kicked it into gear. I think we ended up winning by 30 or something like that I can't remember.

After the game we traded shirts and took pictures. We then took pictures with just our team. Some of us even had each other sign our jersey tops.

After the game we were taken to the international market. It was a very awesome venue of paintings, hand crafted jewelry and purses of all kinds.

It has been such a blessing and an amazing opportunity to play with these girls. I have loved every minute of it!!
