Wayne State College Athletics

The Wayne State College men's indoor track and field teams competed at two separate meets this weekend as part of the team participated in the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln Friday night and Saturday while a majority of the team compete Saturday at the John Dalton Open at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion in the Dakota Dome.   The Wildcats ended up with two new school records at the two meets while winning one event.

Cody Diehl of Wayne State College was named today the Northern Sun Conference  Field Athlete of the Week for Indoor Track and Field following his performance last weekend at the Minnesota State Open in Mankato, Minnesota.  Diehl, a sophomore from Grand Island, Nebraska (Northwest HS), set a new WSC school record and achieved an NCAA provisional national qualifying mark by placing second with 4,723 points in the heptathlon at the Minnesota State Open.  He currently ranks second in the NSIC and ninth in NCAA Division II in the event.

Sophomore Cody Diehl set a new school record and achieved a provisional national qualifying mark in the heptathlon to highlight the Wayne State College men's track and field team at the Minnesota State Open Indoor Meet held Friday and Saturday in Mankato, Minnesota.

Drew Molacek of Wayne State College was named today the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week announced by the league office in St. Paul, Minnesota.  It's the first time this season that the Wildcat sprinter from Stanton, Nebraska has received the honor.
