Northern State Open men's cross country results
The Wayne State College men's cross country team topped Northern State and Presentation College to win the Northern State Open held in Aberdeen, South Dakota Friday afternoon. The Wildcats had 23 points with Northern State second at 34 and Presentation third with 85 points.
Senior Matt Schneider was the top finisher for the Wildcats, placing second overall on the 6,000-meter course in a time of 20:13. Sophomore York Thomas was right behind in third place at 20:20 with Cheto Cerda fourth in 20:21. Sophomore John Kern took fifth at 20:25 with freshmen Joe Chebul (21:01) and Matt Seiler (21:17) taking ninth and 10th. Other WSC finishers included: Adam Meyer, 11th-21:18; Ryan Callahan, 13th-22:00; Jason Schaaf, 14th-22:02; Jimmie Doherty, 16th-22:58 and Nathaniel Bergen, 18th-23:35.
The next meet for Wayne State College will be Saturday, September 20th when the Wildcats compete at the University of Nebraska/Woody Greeno Invitational in Lincoln.
