Final results SDSU Women's Classic
The Wayne State College women's cross country team placed eighth out of 10 teams Saturday at the South Dakota State Classic held in Brookings, South Dakota. The meet featured five NCAA Division I teams, three Division II teams and three NAIA teams. Minnesota, ranked ninth in NCAA Divison I, captured the women's team title with 24 points to top second place Kansas State with 50. WSC scored 191 points, just behind NSIC rival Minnesota State at 186 in seventh.
Senior Megan Zavorka was the top finisher for WSC, placing 20th out of 70 runners with a time of 19:04 on the 5,000 meter course. Freshman Ky'Lee Engelken was next for the Wildcats in 33rd place at 19:35. Other WSC finishers were Sarah Thomsen, 43rd place at 20:17; Meghan Jacob in 46th place at 20:26; Melissa McIntosh 49th - 20:33; Molly Gibson 50th - 20:38 and Jenna McCoy 66th - 22:12.
Wayne State will be in action again next Saturday, hosting the NCAA Pre-Regional in Wayne.
