2009 NCAA Volleyball Home Attendance
Wayne State College ranked seventh in NCAA Division II home volleyball attendance for the 2009 season according to figures released by the NCAA. It's the highest ever ranking for the Wildcats in home volleyball attendance and it's the fourth straight season that WSC has ranked in the top 15 in NCAA Division II. Wayne State was the highest ranking team among the Northern Sun Conference schools listed in the top 50 nationally.
In 11 home matches during the 2009 season, Wayne State College drew 6,417 fans for an average of 583 fans per home match. It's the highest ever average for home volleyball at Wayne State and it's an increase of 104 fans per match compared to the 2008 season. Wayne State College drew a season-high 1,010 fans on September 29, 2009 when the 22nd-ranked Wildcats hosted #1 ranked Concordia-St. Paul. It was the fourth time in school history that a WSC home volleyball match drew over 1,000 fans.
The Northern Sun Conference ranked second nationally in home volleyball attendance out of the 10 NCAA Division II volleyball conferences, averaging 357 fans per home contest. Wayne State College finished the 2009 season with a 29-8 record, advancing to the NCAA Division II national tournament for the fifth straight season.
