Final Results from NSIC Track/Field Championships

                The Wayne State College men's outdoor track and field scored 49 points to place ninth at the Northern Sun Conference Track and Field Championships held in Moorhead, Minnesota.  The Wildcats had four All-Conference finishers with one new school record and one national provisional qualifying mark during the two-day meet.

                The top finisher for the Wildcats was sophomore Alex Timperley, who earned All-NSIC honors with a second place finish in the triple jump at 46' 4 ¼”.  Teammate Lucas Sirek was right behind in third place at 46' 3 ¼” to also earn All-Conference honors.  Senior Nate Preston captured All-NSIC honors with a third place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.  His time of 9:14.78 was a provisional national qualifying mark.  Rounding out the All-NSIC performers for Wayne State was John Kern, who placed third in the 10,000 meter run in a time of 32:02.97.

                Other WSC medal winners at the NSIC Championships included Cody Diehl finishing fourth in the decathlon with a new school record point total of 6,057 points.  Nate Preston was fifth in the 5,000 meter run at 15:15.33, John Kern took sixth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:39.49), Andrew Jansen was seventh in the 400 meter dash (50.42) and York Thomas finished eighth in the 5,000 meter run in 15:18.94. 

                The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Michael King, Drew Molacek, Cody Diehl and Alex Timperley was fifth in 42.74 seconds and the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Molacek, King, Aaron Garza and Andrew Jansen took fifth in a time of 3:21.26.
