AVCA Division II Top 25 Preseason Coaches Poll
The Wayne State College volleyball team is ranked 17th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top 25 Preseason Coaches Poll released Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats received a total of 265 points in voting by Division II coaches from across the country.
Wayne State finished the 2009 regular season ranked 18th in NCAA Division II after finishing 29-8 overall and 16-4 in the NSIC, tied for second place, and lose just one starter from last season's team. The Wildcats defeated Minnesota State in the opening round of the NCAA Division II National Tournament before falling to eventual national champion Concordia-St. Paul in the Central Regional semi-finals. It was the fifth straight season the Wildcats qualified for the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
Wayne State opens the 2010 season at the Rockhurst Tournament in Kansas City, Missouri September 3-4.
