Armed Services Appreciation Day planned for WSC home football game September 11th

8/31/2010 10:08:05 AM

The Wayne State College athletic department will be holding Armed Services Appreciation Day on Saturday, September 11th in conjunction with the Wildcats' home football game vs. Minnesota, Crookston.  The game, scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne, is a perfect opportunity to recognize current and past military personnel for their service to our country.

The 189th Transportation Company from Wayne and Norfolk, approximately 150 service men and women, will attend the game.  There will also be veterans from the Norfolk Veterans Home attending the game, five of which are Wayne State College alumni.  Members of the 189th will also present the colors for the national anthem before the game, have a representative for the coin toss and display an Army vehicle in the stadium for fans to view and/or take pictures.

Other special features planned for the game include the spelling of US in new chair-back bleacher seats in the center section of Cunningham Field in honor of our US military personnel and the stadium will be decorated with 75-100 United States flags thanks to the Wayne Chamber of Commerce.

For ticket information on the game, contact the Wayne State College athletic department at 402-375-7520.
