#3 Wayne State College hit a red hot attack percentage of .467 to cruise past the University of Mary 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-14) Saturday afternoon in Bismarck, North Dakota. Jennifer Hefner and Mindy Moody led the way for WSC with 10 kills apiece on the afternoon. The win makes Wayne State 13-0 overall and 4-0 in the NSIC and the loss drops the Marauders to 3-10 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
The Wildcats dominated the first set as WSC won 25-15. WSC hit a sizzling .515 in the first set with 17 kills and no attack errors. Wayne State came out and hit .345 in game two and used a four point run to expand their lead from 14-10 to 18-10 to take the second set 25-14.
Wayne State used a pair of five point runs in set three to run away with a 25-14 victory. The Wildcats were once again on fire in the third game hitting .533 with only one error.
Wayne State was led offensively by Moody and Hefner who each recorded 10 kills. Tali Fredrickson added eight kills on the afternoon with Lea Hartigan accounting for seven kills. Diedra Artz had 40 set assists in the match to go along with five kills.
Wayne State had 38 digs and four blocks in the match. Leigh Connot led WSC with seven digs in the match. A trio of Wildcats had six digs on the afternoon - McKenna Reagan, Fredrickson and Hartigan.
Wayne State returns home next weekend for Northern Sun Conference play, hosting #2 Minnesota Duluth in a NSIC showdown Friday night and then hosting Bemidji State Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
