Robert Sullivan set a new school record with 5,141 points to win the NSIC Heptathlon held Sunday and Monday at Myers Fieldhouse in Mankato, Minnesota. Wildcat teammate
Derek Lahm also earned All-NSIC honors with a third place finish at 4,970 points to help Wayne State College score 16 points for the NSIC Indoor Championships that will take place February 24-25 in Mankato, Minnesota.
Sullivan, a graduate of Omaha Burke High School, broke Lahm's previous school record of 4,991 points set January 27-28 at the Minnesota State Open. He won the shot put (42' 9 ¾"), was second in the long jump (23' 1 ¼") and placed third in the high jump (6' 8") and 60-meter dash (7.38). Sullivan's 5,141 points in the event was also an NCAA provisional qualifying mark that now puts him sixth in NCAA Division II.
Lahm, a junior from Columbus Scotus, was third in the heptathlon with 4,970 points out of 20 competitors. Lahm took first place in the long jump with a top mark of 23' 6" followed by third place finishes in the 60-meter dash (7.24) and 1,000-meter run (2:43.33). Lahm fell just shy of his season-best point total of 4,991 points, which is tied for 14
th in NCAA Division II.
