th-ranked Wildcats posted a 3-1 win over the Greyhounds Friday afternoon at the 2017 Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott Oredigger Classic in Golden, Colorado. Scores of the match were 25-16, 19-25, 25-17 and 25-14. WSC is now 2-0 on the year while ENMU drops to 0-1.
The first set saw WSC force 10 attack errors on Eastern New Mexico as the 'Cats controlled the Greyhounds for a 25-16 set win. Sophomore
Katie Stephens fueled the Wildcat attack at the net with four kills.
Eastern New Mexico found success in the second set, forcing WSC into 11 attack errors and a -.069 hitting percentage, as the Greyhounds evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-19 set win.
Wayne State regained the momentum in the third set, holding ENMU to a .000 attack percentage with 11 errors while registering 12 kills to post a 25-17 third set win. Freshman
Alyssa Ballenger had the hot hand for WSC in the third set with five kills.
The 'Cats put away the Greyhounds in the fourth set with 13 kills on just 20 attacks and no errors for a .650 attack percentage as WSC finished the match with a 25-14 win to defeat Eastern New Mexico 3-1.
Wayne State hit .250 in the match with 45 kills and 18 errors on 108 attempts while holding Eastern New Mexico to a .028 attack percentage with 40 kills, 36 errors and 144 attacks.
